DIY Tie Dye Easter Eggs

It's almost Easter Sunday. Easter means family time, chocolate bunnies, floral dresses, and of course dying eggs! We want to share with you a super easy, fun activity to prepare for the upcoming holiday: DIY tie dye Easter eggs! Tie dye has always been one of Ooh's favorite patterns and what's better than a funky, tie dye Easter egg.

Here's what you need to get started:

  • Hard boiled eggs (dried completely)
  • Shaving cream
  • Food coloring
  • Baking sheet
  • Spoon/Rubber spatula
  • Toothpicks
  • Paper towels
  • Rubber gloves (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Fill your baking sheet/or tin with shaving cream until it is about an inch thick. Spread it with a spoon/rubber spatula.
  2. Time for the color! Next, drip the food coloring onto the shaving cream, the more die you use the brighter your eggs will be. Use as many colors as you please.
  3. Use your toothpick to swirl around the drips of dye in the shaving cream Thus will make the tie dye affect. Be as creative as you want with this step!
  4. Now, take your hard boiled egg and gently roll it around in your colorful mixture until it is completely covered. You may want to use rubber gloves for this step if you don't want to get your hands too messy.
  5. Take your covered eggs and place them on a paper towel. Let them sit for 20 minutes to soak up all the dye.
  6. After the 20 minutes goes by, wipe away all the shaving cream with a clean paper towel to reveal your fabulous tie dye egg!
