Has Winter Worn Out Your Hair?
Posted on February 24 2013
No worries! Below you'll find three simple at home hair masks that will bring your locks back to life. I adore these three masks because they're free of chemicals, easy to make, and cost way less than manufactured hair masks.
Olive Oil & Honey Hair Mask
2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon of Honey
Optional: A few drops of lavender essential oil
This is my go-to hair mask! I use it once every week or two, especially after exposing my hair to harsh weather and styling. Simply mix the above ingredients in a small dish and microwave until warm. Comb through the hair, slap on a shower cap and let it sit for at least an hour. I usually leave mine on all day and clean the house, study, etc. Wash as you normally do and rejoice at the beautiful end results.
Yogurt & Mayo Hair Mask
1/4 Cup of Mayonnaise
1/4 Cup Plain Yogurt
Optional: 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
I know what you're thinking, mayo+hair=gross! But mayo and yogurt are miracle mask ingredients. Adding vanilla prevents your hair from smelling like mayo so you can fear not when trying this out. Combine the ingredients above, comb through the hair and leave on for 30-45 minutes. Shampoo and condition as normal and you will have frizz free moisturized locks of love.
Avocado & Banana Hair Mask
1/2 an Avocado
1 Small Banana
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
2 Tablespoons Milk or Buttermilk
This mask always leaves my hair so shiny! I use it about once a month. Combine the ingredients, adding more milk if you desire a thinner consistency. As with the other masks, comb it through your hair, put a cap on and leave it for a few hours. Shampoo as normal and enjoy!
These are my three go-to hair masks for when my hair's feeling dry and dull. If you're short on time, blow-dry your mask with warm to hot air for better absorption and quicker results. Make sure to shampoo really well after using these masks, and condition if you like (I always do). Hope you use these masks and make your hair look fab for this spring!
