Met Gala 2016: Best and Worst Dressed

Yesterday marked the first Monday in May, which means only one thing in the fashion world: The Met Gala. The annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute was last night, and honestly this was the hardest best and worst dressed list to make because the looks last night were INSANE! With “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” as this year’s theme, these A-list stars took a cutting edge approach to red carpet dressing, highlighting the best of both handmade and machine-made creations. Some may have missed the theme, but still looked fab!

There were so many amazing looks to choose from, and although we loved the Balmain army and Louis Vuitton overload, those will be on everyone’s lists! See our picks for best and worst dressed, and comment your thoughts and if you agree or disagree with us! ;)

BEST DRESSED

Karlie Kloss in Brandon Maxwell. Two dresses are better than one,
especially when both are breathtaking! Karlie showed up in a stunning,
white, high-collared overcoat with an attached cape overlay. Then, in the
blink of an eye, she shed the overcoat and transformed into a column
gown covered in eye-catching cutouts that hugged her in all the right places!

Kendall Jenner Atelier Versace. Never expect anything less than perfect from
Kendall Jenner. She wore this beautiful blue and white cut out Versace macramé
dress that looked insane on her.  Everything about this ensemble looks sleek and
elegant. I’d love to look like her for one day! P.S the fact she was the only member
of the Kardashian/Jenner tribe that didn’t wear Balmain made a huge statement.
Well played, Kendall!

Naomi Campbell in Cavalli Couture. She makes looking this good seem
so easy, no wonder why she is the biggest supermodel in the world.
She slayed in this black silk lace crop top and skirt combo by Roberto Cavalli.

Emily Ratajkowski in Prabal Gurung.  Not only is this dress sexy,
but she worked the theme in with the back of the dress which was so
beautiful, but very futuristic! Either way, she looked gorgeous and is a
best dressed pick of ours!

Poppy
Delevingne in Marchesa. She was one of the first to walk
the Met Gala red carpet, and she made a lasting impression. Everything
about this look is perfection, from that ornate Marchesa gown to those
long, blond locks and that dark lip. Plus it was her birthday.
Happy Birthday, Poppy!

Sarah Jessica Parker in Monse Honestly, although she didn’t
really stick to the theme as she usually does, we are loving this
trendy look from SJP, no matter what she wears, she always kills it.
We really dig this look, and love up-and-coming designer Monse!

Nas in Public School
, looking dapper as ever. We love
Nas, and love him even more in a tux!

Our pick for Best Looking Couple hands down goes to
The Weeknd and Bella Hadid both in Givenchy. Bella SLAYED
the red carpet in this Givenchy gown. Simple at the top, but
oh-so-dramatic at the bottom. These two are giving some serious
#relationshipgoals

WORST DRESSED

Selena Gomez in Louis Vuitton. Selena, what are you doing?
This dress seems a mix of Lolita and dominatrix, and it just
doesn't work.  She still looks beautiful but she definitely could’ve
done better.

Nicki Minaj in Moschino.
Nicki put on a buxom display in a
revealing sheer, strappy Moschino gown. The belted-up design
looked like it was barely holding her eye-popping assets in place,
she didn’t look comfortable and overall I am not crazy about this
look at all.

Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen in their own clothes?
These twins
have an extremely successful clothing line and have been fashion
It Girls their entire lives. Not sure why they choose the Met Gala
red carpet to look like hobos but they sure made a statement,
just wish it was a good one…They could’ve at least done their hair?!

Madonna in Givenchy
. We get, you’re Madonna. We just wish
you would maybe cover up a bit and maybe dress your age for
once? She left pretty much nothing to the imagination in this
bondage-themed dress which featured sheer lace panels over
her bust and butt.

Grimes in Louis Viutton.
 Her over-sized blue dress with
odd black and green color blocking was not a flattering look
for the singer; we do like the pink hair though.

Solange Knowles in David LaPort.
She not only caused a
twitter war by posting a cryptic tweet after the Met Gala, but
she also showed up in a yellow ruffle number, looking like
streamers. Some reports on her look say she was supporting
big sister Beyonce and dressed as a lemon. Yikes! She is usually
right on trend, but this was not a good look on her, she could do
SO much better.

ICYMI

Beyonce wearing a custom Givenchy nude latex number
showed up without Jay-z. We are freaking out and hope
everything is okay, lol! Maybe it’s all for Lemonade?!

Congratulations are in order for Kate Upton in Topshop
and debuted a huge rock on her finger confirming her
ngagement to longtime boyfriend Justin Verlander.

Kerry Washington in Marc Jacobs debuted her baby bump,
she is pregnant with second child, congrats OP!

I did not like Sarah Jessica Parker at all! Overall there were so many poorly dressed this year! But I thought the Kardashian-Wests/Jenners killed it!

    Love Poppy and Karlie’s looks.

Honorable mention for Emma Watson whose outfit was made from recycled plastic! She nailed the theme of the night.
